with Sphalerite & Galena
Lime Crest Quarry
Sparta, New Jersey
Specimen was found years ago in a Mississippi Valley Type (MVT) deposit that was in one part of the quarry.
Purple fluorite in this quantity is not usually seen on specimens from the Garden State (nor are galena and sphalerite).
This is a large-cabinet sized specimen with good coverage of fluorite. The matrix appears to be dolomitic marble.
There are also moderate amounts of SW FL hydrozincite on lower front face, as well as minor amounts of NF barite.
This classic NJ locality is now closed and flooded.
