Ogdensburg, New Jersey
Crystalline friedelite on willemite-franklinite-calcite ore. The crystals are pinkish-tan, platy, and indistinct, forming a seam coating.
There appears to be a fine crack in the right-hand side of the specimen, right about where the zone of white mineral meets the zone that's primarily friedelite; it doesn't seem to go all the way through. This is common for many specimens from the orebody. We've had this specimen for years (never offered it for sale), and in all likelihood it's been this way since it was mined in the 1980's or earlier.
From the collection of a Sterling Hill miner, this one comes directly from the mine (as opposed to the surface dumps).
